Randi Mahomes posted a heartfelt message on Friday, remembering her father as a devoted and loving man. She wrote, “Hard to find the words of holding my father’s hand as he goes to Heaven. I know he’s in a better place. I love you daddy. Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23.”
Randy Martin, whose full name was Larry Randy Martin, passed away Wednesday, just days before Super Bowl LVII in New Orleans, where his grandson, Patrick, was preparing to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a championship game. A funeral for Randy Martin is scheduled for Monday.
The loss of Randy Martin comes during an emotional time for the Mahomes family, especially as Randi had shared in the days leading up to his passing that her father had entered hospice care. On January 24, Randi revealed that her father’s health was deteriorating, and this was just two days before the Chiefs played the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game. Despite his declining health, Randy Martin had been holding on, hopeful to see his grandson take the field in the Super Bowl.
In an interview with People magazine, Randi reflected on how proud her father was of Patrick and his achievements. “I know that it has meant a lot to him,” Randi said. “And I think he’s hanging on because he wants to see his grandson do an amazing thing or just let him play.” Her words highlighted the deep pride and love Randy Martin felt for his family, especially Patrick.
