As Travis Kelce’s football career seems to be nearing its end, Henry Winkler is already championing the NFL star’s burgeoning acting talent. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Winkler expressed his admiration for Kelce’s performance in the new horror drama Grotesquerie, where the Kansas City Chiefs tight end takes on the role of Ed Lachlan, a flirty ex-stripper.

Winkler, best known for his iconic role as The Fonz in Happy Days, couldn’t contain his excitement about Kelce’s portrayal. “He was great,” said Winkler, praising the professional and warm energy Kelce brought to the set. Though he refrained from calling the performance award-winning, he was clearly impressed. “What I do know is that he really did a great job.”

Winkler also shared that his son, Max Winkler, who directed the series, was equally impressed with Kelce’s work. The 41-year-old director reportedly told his father that Kelce was “wonderful” on set, adding to the positive buzz surrounding the athlete’s acting chops.

While Winkler was all praise for Kelce, he couldn’t help but express some disappointment in a different aspect of his life—his continued lack of a dinner with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. Despite extending multiple invitations for a chicken dinner, Mahomes has yet to take Winkler up on his offer, leaving the legendary actor heartbroken.

“I don’t know what the problem is,” Winkler said with a smile, acknowledging his continuing hope that Mahomes would eventually join him for the meal. “But if he ever gets back to me, I’ll gladly reheat some dishes for him.”

As for Kelce, Winkler’s endorsement only adds to the growing intrigue surrounding the football star’s transition into acting. With a performance that earned praise from both the director and the legendary actor, it seems Kelce may be on the brink of a successful second career in Hollywood.
