Patrick Mahomes’ Secret Formula for NFL Success—Shared with Rising Draft Star!

As Patrick Mahomes continues to elevate his legacy with the Kansas City Chiefs, his influence stretches far beyond the football field. The three-time Super Bowl champion remains deeply connected to his alma mater, Texas Tech University, where his journey to NFL greatness began. Mahomes’ impact on the Red Raiders’ athletic programs has been evident, not only through his generous contributions, such as funding new uniforms for the baseball team but also in the form of invaluable guidance for the next generation of football stars.

One such player who has benefited from Mahomes’ mentorship is running back Tahj Brooks, who recently reflected on the wisdom the Chiefs quarterback passed down as he and his teammates prepared for the NFL Draft. Brooks, who capped off his college career as Texas Tech’s all-time leading rusher, shared Mahomes’ key advice during an appearance on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams.

Mahomes’ message was simple yet powerful: focus on the details during summer workouts and dedicate yourself to improvement when you’re in the building. “If you’re in the building, stay in the building. When you’re outside the building, go have fun and take time away from football. But when you’re in the building, it’s straight work, trying to get better with your brothers,” Brooks recalled.

For Brooks, this mindset became more than just a mantra—it became a guiding principle that helped him achieve success on the field. In his final season at Texas Tech, Brooks rushed for 1,505 yards and 17 touchdowns, earning Second-Team All-Big 12 honors. With the NFL Draft on the horizon, Brooks credits Mahomes’ emphasis on discipline and focus as a key part of his journey to the next level.

Brooks recently showcased his abilities at the East-West Shrine Bowl, leaving a lasting impression on scouts and further solidifying his draft stock. “I feel like I proved I’m an every-down back,” Brooks said. “I can catch balls coming out of the backfield for whichever organization chooses to draft me. I also put my speed on display. I showed everyone that I’m very quick, quicker than people think I am.”

As Mahomes continues to lead the Chiefs through another offseason of roster adjustments, his influence on Texas Tech football remains undeniable. With Brooks and other rising stars inspired by Mahomes’ approach to success, the lessons of hard work, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence are sure to resonate long after they leave Lubbock.

For Brooks, preparing for the biggest step of his career with the guidance of a proven champion like Mahomes could prove to be the difference-maker as he transitions to the NFL. Mahomes’ words are more than just advice—they’re a blueprint for success in both football and life.
