Travis Kelce’s love for his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, isn’t just about their whirlwind romance—he’s also a true Swiftie! During the March 14 episode of his New Heights podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end shocked co-host and brother Jason Kelce with his extensive knowledge of Swift’s career. Their guest for the episode, actor Jason Sudeikis, was just as impressed.

The conversation turned to Sudeikis’ own Saturday Night Live (SNL) memories, and he shared some behind-the-scenes details from one of his favorite sketches. “A few of my personal favorites that I was involved in, like, [Will] Forte and I had a lot of fun things. We did a sketch called Potato Chip,” Sudeikis reminisced. “That very first time we did it was with Taylor [Swift] when she hosted. But it didn’t make it.”

Without missing a beat, Travis Kelce jumped in, saying, “Nice! A young Taylor too.” His casual remark left Sudeikis momentarily stunned. Clearly, Kelce knows more about Taylor’s early days than most would expect.

Sudeikis continued, revealing that the sketch, which originally featured Swift, was cut from the 2009 episode but was eventually aired in 2013, with Blake Lively stepping in. “We ended up doing it with Blake Lively,” Sudeikis explained. “She ended up getting it over the hump for us. And they played it so differently, which is one of those neat things. And it was, like, it’s the silliest sketch in the world. It’s worth looking up.”

In the sketch, Sudeikis played a man who wants to be an astronaut but causes chaos when he steals a potato chip from Forte’s character. Lively’s character, Forte’s secretary, plays an integral role in the ensuing potato chip drama. While the sketch didn’t air as originally intended, the memory remains one of Sudeikis’ fondest from his time on the iconic show.

As Sudeikis, Kelce, and his brother Jason laughed over the years-old sketch, it became clear that Swift’s presence on SNL back in 2009 made an indelible mark on all involved. And of course, Kelce’s intimate knowledge of Taylor’s career further cemented his status as a true fan. After all, Kelce and Swift’s romance blossomed in 2023, just as he took to the SNL stage himself, having helped his team win the Super Bowl that year. The two had first crossed paths when Kelce attended one of Swift’s Eras tour concerts, expressing his disappointment at not getting to meet the pop superstar.

“If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it,” Travis recalled during a previous New Heights episode.

Swift later spoke about the unique introduction, calling it “metal as hell” in a TIME magazine profile. The two began dating shortly after, and Swift even revealed in the interview, “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

With both Kelce and Swift now in the public eye for their blossoming relationship, it’s clear that their bond is built on a foundation of shared interests—and Travis Kelce’s undeniable admiration for Taylor Swift’s career. And if anything, the fondness for SNL sketches and friendship bracelets just adds another layer to their connection.
