GREEN BAY – When Eric Stokes signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this week, he left more than just the Green Bay Packers behind. The former first-round cornerback, known for his on-field skills, also bid farewell to a crucial aspect of his life: Green Bay’s limited food scene.

During his introductory media session with the Raiders on Thursday, Stokes admitted that one factor influencing his move to the vibrant city of Las Vegas was the abundance of food options available after hours. “I ain’t gonna lie, yeah,” Stokes said when asked if Las Vegas’ food scene played a role in his decision. “Green Bay’s different, I love Green Bay, but after about 10 o’clock, there’s nothing else to eat in Green Bay. So I’m really excited for the food options here. I can really show off my big back activities.”

And what exactly are Stokes’ “big back activities”? His former teammates provided the inside scoop.

Rasul Douglas, who played with Stokes in Green Bay from 2021 to 2023, shared an amusing detail on social media, revealing that Stokes had a rather unique habit when it came to dining at one of the Packers’ favorite spots – Texas Roadhouse. “Eric used to eat ALL the bread at Texas Roadhouse,” Douglas posted, showing just how much the cornerback loved indulging his appetite.

Darnell Savage Jr., who also spent time with the Packers from 2019 to 2023, chimed in to corroborate this bread obsession, adding that Stokes’ eating habits weren’t confined to just one restaurant. “He’d go hard at Longhorn Steakhouse too,” Savage confirmed.

Both Texas Roadhouse and Longhorn Steakhouse are located in Ashwaubenon, just a stone’s throw from Lambeau Field. These familiar spots offered a haven for Stokes, where he could indulge in his post-game meals, often with his fellow defensive backs in tow.

Stokes’ four-year stint with the Packers saw him appear in 45 games, accumulating 128 total tackles. While he will be missed on the field, it seems that Green Bay’s food scene—especially after-hours dining—won’t be a part of his legacy. Now, as he heads to the bustling streets of Las Vegas, Stokes looks forward to a new chapter, filled with better culinary options—and, undoubtedly, even more “big back activities.”
