Josh Jacobs, the dynamic running back for the Green Bay Packers, has made a big impact during his first season with the team. After finishing with one of his most successful campaigns, Jacobs opened up about what makes the Packers’ offense so special— and it’s not just about the flashy plays.
When asked what he likes most about the Packers’ offense, Jacobs pointed to the versatility of the team. “We got a lot of guys in the receiver room that can make plays. We got, obviously, a really good quarterback, captain, leader. And obviously, too, our head coach, he’s a great offensive mind,” Jacobs told On3. His comments reveal a deep appreciation for not only the players around him but the strategy and preparation that fuels the entire offense.
Under the leadership of quarterback Jordan Love and head coach Matt LaFleur, Jacobs had a career year in 2024. He rushed for 1,329 yards, adding 15 touchdowns to his tally, while also catching 39 passes for 342 yards and another touchdown. His performance earned him a third Pro Bowl selection and an 11th-place finish in Offensive Player of the Year voting. It was clear from his play on the field that Jacobs was one of the key pieces in the Packers’ offensive puzzle.
The season, however, wasn’t just about individual accomplishments. Jacobs’ first playoff appearance with the Packers saw the team clinch a spot, though they were ultimately eliminated in the wild-card round by the Philadelphia Eagles, the eventual Super Bowl champions. Despite the loss, Jacobs made an impact, rushing for 81 yards and a touchdown while contributing 40 yards through the air in just his second-ever playoff game.
Jacobs’ Packers debut was one of the more memorable moments of the season, albeit under unusual circumstances. In the season opener, the Packers took on the Eagles in Brazil at the Corinthians Arena in São Paulo. Although Green Bay lost the game, Jacobs proved he was worth the four-year, $48 million contract they signed him to in March. Rushing for 84 yards on 16 carries in the loss, Jacobs showed exactly why the Packers were excited to bring him on board.
Reflecting on the unique experience of playing in Brazil, Jacobs remarked, “The crowd was lit. The atmosphere of the game was pretty good.” He also recalled some challenges, including adjusting to the slick surface, a result of the stadium being primarily used for soccer. But Jacobs was able to take it all in stride. “It was a fun game,” he said. “We was scoring, they was scoring, we was scoring. So, it was a pretty good first game.”
With a standout season behind him and an exciting future ahead, Josh Jacobs has firmly embedded himself into the Packers’ offensive machine. Whether it’s his versatility, his leadership, or his ability to adapt to any situation, Jacobs has proven himself to be a key player on a team that’s sure to be a force in the NFL for years to come.
