Forget the Chiefs—Ava Hunt Is Bringing the Fire to SMU’s Cheer Squad!

Forget about the Kansas City Chiefs — Ava Hunt is the one lighting up the spotlight in her new cheerleading uniform at Southern Methodist University. The 19-year-old freshman has proven once again that she knows how to grab attention, but this time, it’s not with a jaw-dropping Victoria’s Secret corset at the 2025 Super Bowl. Instead, she’s showing off her fierce spirit on the sidelines as a proud member of SMU’s cheer squad.

Ava, the youngest daughter of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt and granddaughter of the team’s founder, Lamar Hunt, is no stranger to the spotlight. This time, she’s turning heads in SMU’s latest cheerleading outfits — stunning, tummy-bearing ensembles that are a far cry from the Nike practice gear she posted earlier this week. The bold new look was unveiled during SMU’s Giving Day on March 11, where Ava shared photos of herself with her fellow cheerleaders, including a group shot and a trio pic in which she flashed a bright smile and struck a confident pose.

In one of her Instagram Stories, Ava beamed with pride as she shared her excitement about being part of the cheer squad. “It’s been such a rewarding experience getting to pour back into our community and support other athletes that put so much work into what they do,” she said, showing off her ability to balance cheerleading with her academic journey as a marketing major.

While her looks are certainly dazzling, Ava’s charisma is what truly sets her apart. She’s not just a cheerleader—she’s a force to be reckoned with. And let’s not forget, she’s probably the only SMU cheerleader who can boast a friendship with none other than superstar Taylor Swift.

Ava’s older sister, Gracie, 25, often grabs attention on the sidelines of Chiefs games as well, making the Hunt sisters a dynamic duo. The two, who share a birthday despite being six years apart, are no strangers to the public eye. The Hunt family, including Ava’s brother Knobel, 22, and their mother Tavia, clearly knows how to make a statement wherever they go.

Looking ahead, Ava is set to graduate from SMU in 2028, and her cheerleading journey is just beginning. The upcoming cheer tryouts for next year’s squad are set for April 4 and 5, while the pom squad will be hosting its Spring Clinic on March 29, followed by tryouts on April 11 and 12. If Ava’s already making waves this early in her college career, there’s no telling just how high she’ll rise as her time at SMU unfolds.
